Alpha Phi Alpha Homes, Inc. is a non-profit housing & development management corporation formed in 1966 by the membership of Eta Tau Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Eta Tau Lambda Chapter is a graduate chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. composed of graduate fraternity members living in the Akron, Ohio area.
Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. is the oldest and largest of the predominantly Black Greek-letter fraternal organizations in the world. While community service is a hallmark of all Alpha Chapters, Eta Tau Lambda Chapter, through Alpha Phi Alpha Homes, has been a pioneer in non-profit development and management of affordable housing for low and moderate-income families and the elderly.
Alpha Phi Alpha Homes, Inc. maintains well-run rental and for-sale residential properties. In addition, tenants enjoy social and recreational programs organized by live-in resident managers amid service coordinators trained to work with low-income families and elderly individuals. Alpha has developed a variety of programs to enable each tenant to live the fullest and most productive life. Service Coordinators provide the linkages to connect tennants in need with service providers who can ease the burden of poverty, disability and infirmity.
The membership of Alpha Phi Alpha Homes, Inc. consists of the active members of Eta Tau Lambda Chapter. The membership elects a 26 person Board of Directors with three year staggered terms.
The Board of Directors elects officers who serve a one-year term.
